Get Inspired!

Posted by Spinning® on Jan 28th 2021

For most of us, INSPIRATION is a driving force, but exactly what it moves us to do differs enormously from person to person. Whether the Spinning® program helps you to lose weight, offers a constructive way to deal with a personal struggle or simply gives you the energy you need to make it through a jam-packed day, something inspires you to hop on a Spinner® bike – even on those days when your couch looks much more appealing.

Because inspiration is as good to give as it is to receive, this blog features two stories from Spinning® MIs that will fuel your ongoing desire to help your students – and yourself – do more than you ever thought possible. Read on!

ROBIN DIVINE

The pandemic has brought about many challenges including not being able to participate in many of the in person Spinning® events that refuel our fires. I was thrilled to be back in the saddle teaching when our state opened the gyms in a limited capacity, 10 bikes and riders with masks. Two new members joined my facility, both with heart disease and on medication during the summertime. In the past two weeks, both have come to me with similar stories…their cardiologists told them they didn’t need stress tests because they get them every week in Spinning® class and all their health markers are going in the right direction! This is why I ride and why I am part of the Spinning® family!

CORI PARKS

I lived in Cambodia from 2008-2014, and during that time I had my own Spinning® facility in my home and taught at a gym across town. While riding my bike home from the gym after teaching a Spinning® class, I was hit by a motorcycle. I tore 80% of my rotator cuff free from attachment and shattered my helmet. I was medevaced to Bangkok where I had total shoulder reconstruction. 7 months later I did an Olympic Distance Triathlon in Indonesia and a year and a half later I did an Ironman 70.3 in Malaysia, having accomplished most of my training on a Spinning® bike. My own personal source of inspiration was my Spinning® clients. I can't tell you how many people have said to me that when they are doing their events (running, hiking, cycling, tri, whatever) they hear my coaching words. I used that as a source of energy along with one of my coaching nuggets: You can always give up...but don't quit yet....quit later.

As a Spinning® instructor, you’re no stranger to inspiring others, so share what works for you with your fellow instructors and help them experience a similar fate on our social media channels. We’d love to hear from you!
