Lorey Pro, Spinning® Master Instructor | Arizona, USA
Posted by Spinning® on Apr 18th 2018
Lorey Pro’s last name reflects her ambition and drive as not only a Master Instructor, but as an individual who wants to share the “empowerment of accomplishment.” It makes one think twice about predestination. From St. Gabriel, LA, Lorey started off as an athlete, but these days in a role-reversal, she’s the one now making athletes. Lorey’s goal-oriented mindset has created a strong bond to her students, many bonds that go further than just a classroom.
Why did you start taking Spinning® classes?
To participate in sport-specific indoor training during off-season to prepare for triathlons.
What inspired you to become a Certified Spinning® Instructor and then a Master Instructor?
The Spinning® program embodies everything I believe in regarding to sound science, sound training principles, performance monitoring, and periodized training. I am passionate about cycling, coaching, inspiration, and goal setting and Spinning allows me to share my passions with others.
What do you love about teaching Spinning® classes?
I love empowering others with the success of accomplishment and the application of education.
What makes Spinning® such a great workout?
It allows riders of varying abilities and fitness levels to train together in one class. Because cycling is considered a lifetime sport, all can participate no matter what age and for a very long time.
Share a memory from your experience as a teacher/coach/presenter that embodies the value of being a Certified Spinning® Instructor or Spinning® Master Instructor?
It is not only one memory, but many that have touched my heart on a deep level. If I had to choose just one example, I would tell you about a student from Africa who attended my classes regularly during college. After he graduated and returned to Africa, he wrote me to let me know he could not find any Spinning classes near his village. Instead, he could always hear my lessons "when the wind brushed the palm leaves and when the sun would sing at sunset." The spirit of the Spinning philosophy lived on in his mind even though he could no longer attend classes.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about becoming a Certified Spinning® Instructor?
Follow your passions. If you feel passionate about coaching others to achieve their fitness goals, take the first step (or pedal stroke) towards this path in life.
Do you have a hero in the Spinning® community, someone who deserves recognition for their leadership?
I am repeatedly inspired by the riders who attend my classes. It is their dedication to the program followed by real results and vocal recognition that may encourage others to join too.
Is there anything about you that would surprise people?
I am an extrovert, but I am also an introvert. I can be shy in front of a large group of people.
What’s one of your favorite motivational quotes?
“To give anything less than your best, is to sacrifice the gift.” Steve Prefontaine
